General Description

The original STP consisted of two pasveer channels with a total capacity of 2000 EP. The sewage treatment works has recently been augmented (including the installation of a Tubemaker’s package plant which has a demand aeration tank and an intermittent aeration tank) resulting in an increase in capacity.

Sewerage Catchment:

  • Crescent Head outfall is the discharge point for the Crescent Head STP.

Sewage Treatment:

  • IEAAS treatment process (MHL769 1997). The existing plant also has facilities for dosing of alum and soda ash for enhancement of secondary treatment and removal of phosphorus, effluent holding tank with effluent pumping equipment and two sludge lagoons (DPWS 1998, MHL1001 1999).

Outfall:

  • The ocean outfall is located in a small cove between Little Nobby and Big Nobby headlands, below the golf course and south of Killick Creek. The cove is oriented at approximately 120° magnetic (i.e. south-east).   The outfall is buried in shingle (small pebbles and cobbles) approximately 5 m from the mean low water mark.
